Maya Silva Thompson

Maya joined the National Coalition of Girls’ Schools (NCGS) as the Voluntary Advocacy Intern for the 2019-2020 academic year. Maya believes in being involved in non-profit organizations like NCGS to give back to a community that has given so much to her. She brings to NCGS first-hand experience with all-girls education as an alumna of NCGS member Miss Porter’s School in Farmington, CT.

Having worked with many schools to plan events and create media, Maya is excited to continue utilizing and honing those skills with NCGS. She is assisting with developing content for the website and The Coalition Connection newsletter, writing member news stories, and supporting the 2020 NCGS Conference, Stand Up, Speak Up: Girls Using Their Voices to Engage, Empower, and Enact.

Maya is currently a junior at Spelman College, a historically black women’s college located in Atlanta, GA, where she is studying comparative women’s studies and education. Maya looks forward to one day earning a Ph.D. in women’s and gender studies and eventually running her own non-profit.
