Bond University / Same Sky
Bond University is Australia’s first private, not-for-profit University, offering a personalised academic environment that enables graduates to exceed the outer limits of their potential.
With access to unparalleled academic and technological resources on Bond’s world-class Gold Coast campus, students thrive in smaller study groups where eminent professors and industry-experienced lecturers know them by name.
By undertaking three-semesters-per-year instead of the usual two, graduates finish their studies sooner. Combine this advantage with Bond’s commitment to opening doors to blue chip employers and it becomes clear that students graduate with a clear competitive advantage over their public university peers.
Bond University is Same Sky’s first ever organisational ambassador. Bond is dedicated to ensuring as many people as possible have access to educational opportunities and the leadership skills they need to drive change within their communities, and to cultivating and encouraging a strong sense of social and philanthropic responsibility in the next generation. Through our partnership with the Alliance of Girls’ Schools Australasia, Bond University is championing the Same Sky cause within a number leading girls’ schools by opening up a conversation about women’s empowerment, equality and education through the Same Sky lens and looking at how we can embed these topics within their curriculum.

The initiative has reached women from across 56 countries through a network of 100 academic, nonprofit, and bank partners. To date, the facility has completed nine transactions totaling $180 million in nine countries that will reach 25,000 women. In July 2015, President Obama announced a $100 million commitment by the Overseas Private Investment Corporation to the facility to help 10,000 Women and IFC close the global credit gap for women entrepreneurs.
The Mariposa DR Foundation
Inspired by the Millennium Development Goals, The Mariposa DR Foundation was founded in 2009 by a group of caring adults who recognized the need to create programs specifically addressing the unique needs of young Dominican and Haitian girls living in Cabarete, Dominican Republic.
Everything we do at The Mariposa DR Foundation is centered on educating and empowering girls, and helping others to understand why girls are the cause of our time and the role they can play in affecting positive global change. With wraparound services for girls and benefits for the entire family, and a robust volunteer and service learning program, Mariposa has developed a formula that is changing the game.
We are not just a charity. We are an innovative learning institution at the forefront of international development. The Mariposa Center for Girls is located in a small, stable community where all of the challenges that face girls worldwide persist – poverty, prostitution, sex tourism, child marriage, gender inequality, domestic violence, race relations, statelessness and social isolation. These dire circumstances juxtaposed with the amenities of a tourist community, make our center accessible to anyone, allowing us the tremendous opportunity to share our unique solutions to educating and empowering girls with the world. Mariposa is poised to become a global thought leader, and sharing our solutions with the rest of the world is the key to our future success.
Plans to develop the world’s first “girl museum”: Created for and by girls, the museum will be an interactive learning environment and visual journey into the international girl movement and how girls have the unique power to change the world. The first “girl museum” will bring to light the unique challenges that girls face and how investing in their education and well-being is the key to ending poverty.
