2020-2021 Schedule and Topics

Headways for “Hot Topics in Girls’ Schools” will be facilitated by Nicole Hood, Upper School Director at Bryn Mawr School. All meetings will will occur from 4:00-5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

Cohort meeting dates for the 2020-2021 program will be posted by early August 2020. Please note that NCGS is mindful of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and will ensure that discussion topics are timely and relevant.

October 2020: Pandemic Playbook: Girls’ Education Now and in the Future

Topics to consider: current implications of COVID-19; lessons learned and silver linings; determining how the pandemic will be acknowledged in the history of schools; etc.

November 2020: Supporting Girls’ Mental Health

Topics to consider: stress and anxiety; health and wellness programs; counseling services; etc.

January 2021: Celebrations and Traditions

Topics to consider: what continues on, what is phased out, what takes its place; key decision makers; community communications; etc.

February 2021: Assessment and Evaluation

Topics to consider: assessment tools; the role of feedback; grading policies; exams; formative vs. summative; etc.

April 2021: Expanding Definitions of Gender Identity

Topics to consider: student support; schoolwide policies; classroom instruction; parent and alumnae engagement; educating and communicating with your community; impact on mission; etc.


Available exclusively to NCGS member schools, each cohort includes five conversation topics. A registration fee of $250 is required by each participant. Space is limited with preference given to new, first-time participants who can commit to joining every session within a cohort.
