Podcast: See It To Be It: The Power of HERstory

“If we want our girls to benefit from the courage and wisdom of the women before them, we have to share the stories.” — Shireen Dodson | United Nations Ombudsman

Where are the women in our history curricula? Just how underrepresented and marginalized are women in history books? Why is it important to be aware of who’s writing our history and the impact that may have on girls and boys alike?

In this episode of PEP Talks: Podcast on Educational Possibilities, NCGS discusses the importance of HERstory—including the historical stories and experiences of women in our curricula. It’s also equally as important for boys to also see accomplished women in history in order to be aware women were an integral force in shaping our world.

We are joined, by featured guests, Lori Ann Terjesen, Director of Education for the National Women’s History Museum, and Charlotte Mangin, a graduate of The Spence School and Creator, Executive Producer, and Director of UNLADYLIKE2020, a documentary series profiling unsung women that premiered on PBS’s flagship biography program American Masters.

If you believe in the power of HERstory, and why girls need to see it to be it, then this podcast is for you.
