Resources for Teachers

ClassroomExpect the Best, and That's What You'll Get!

Knowing what works best for individual students is what good teaching is all about. Understanding that boys and girls don't necessarily learn the same way can make a big difference in how one approaches any number of subjects. With decades of experience in all-girl classes our teachers have lots of lessons to share.

Some quick examples: Encourage female students by letting them know you expect them to succeed. Use collaborative and cooperative learning activities, reaction papers, generalizing. Keep a teaching diary that documents participation and use it to encourage the more silent students. Allow more time after asking a question before you call on another student. Illustrate multiple ways of answering a problem and give more time for finding solutions.

If you expect success, you'll get success!
