Website Changes Coming This Fall
Consider NCGS Your Online Publishing Outlet for News, Events
We are preparing to introduce some exciting new online features in the weeks ahead, all designed to make ncgs.org the source for news and information about the girls' school community. One of the biggest changes you'll notice is a wealth of new stories about NCGS Member Schools. All members will be invited to post their press releases, event announcements and media placements for publication on our homepage -- viewed by nearly 10,000 unique visitors a month, a figure we're confident will continue to grow. We see this project as an important new tool for publicizing the value of single-sex education for girls, while at the same time providing an easy-to-use resource for staying informed about the many innovations and accomplishments happening at girls' schools across the country and around the world. Details -- including guidelines on how to participate -- to come!
Science-Technology-Engineering-Math:
The new website features will also include a special, in-depth section featuring an array of STEM resources: lesson plans... important trends... best practices... and more. Training the next generation of STEM innovators is an urgent national need, and girls' schools are uniquely positioned to lead the way. Look for an announcement soon as we unveil this valuable resource created with the support of Google, Inc. and the Margaret Hall Foundation.
STEM Think-Tank:
Please make plans to join us January 31-February 1, 2008 at the Harpeth Hall School in Nashville, Tennessee for the STEM Think-Tank --
dialog, discussion and insight among STEM curricular leaders from NCGS
schools. We will share best practices, brainstorm ideas, and plan
future STEM-related initiatives. Co-sponsored by Harpeth Hall, Castilleja School, the Hockaday School, Westover School and the Holton-Arms School. More details about the event will be distributed later this fall. For more information, contact Karen Douse, Director of Library and Technology at the Harpeth Hall School, douse(at)harpethhall.org.

We are delighted to announce the newest member of the National Coalition of Girls' Schools, the Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders!
The school opened its doors in Austin, Texas this fall, admitting

StatsOnline Deadline Oct. 5
NCGS is counting on you to complete the StatsOnline survey
as it is our primary data collection vehicle. The upside for your
school is access to an expanded database and benchmarking capability. And we're not tapping you on the shoulder to duplicate effort (for NCGS, for NAIS).
NAIS has apologized for difficulties on their system the last several days. They are now fully up-and-running. They have extended the deadline one week.
The new deadline is now Friday, October 5th. NAIS members and non-NAIS
NCGS members have access -- just follow the StatsOnline indicators. If
you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us!

NCGS Strategic Priorities
The National Coalition of Girls' Schools was founded in 1991 with the expressed goal of identifying and advancing Strategic Priorities for the girls' school community. In the years since, girls' schools
have reemerged as one of the most compelling features on the
educational landscape! Today NCGS, with the leadership of its
Co-Executive Directors and Board of Trustees -- as well as the advice
and inspiration of its Member Schools -- continues to seek out the
leading edge of innovation, advocacy and advancement.
The NCGS Board has approved the latest update of our Strategic Priorities on behalf of Member Schools, and we invite you to download and print the document and share it with your key constituents. And we invite you, as well, to contact us with your comments, ideas and suggestions as we resume mapping strategy at the next NCGS Board meeting, October 14 and 15.
