2008 Annual Conference a Big Success
Hosted by Hathaway Brown School and supported by the Laurel School, the 2008 NCGS Annual Conference was our biggest ever. We had a record 230 in attendance representing 62 different schools (34 of whom sent teams). Our 20 international colleagues came from affiliate schools in Australia, Canada, South Africa and the United Kingdom. Our 6th annual International Girls' Forum was well represented by a team of 12 students from member schools in this country and abroad. Over 70 attended our professional development seminar on articulating the value of girls' schools followed by two days of presentations and best practices session. In addition, we celebrated Whitty's years with NCGS and 'crowned' Meg as NCGS' sole Executive Director.

New NCGS Member Schools
We were delighted to add the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy (South Africa) to our International Membership this year. Joy Moore (formerly at Dana Hall and The Archer School) is currently the Head of Academy. We also welcomed two new public girls' schools, located in the city of Cleveland, to our membership: The Douglas MacArthur Girls Leadership Academy and the Warner Girls Leadership Academy. Members of these schools attended our Annual Conference at the Hathaway Brown School last month, and their students joined our Girls' Forum to paint a mural on the school's wall.

A STEM Resource from NCGS

Girls' schools have long been leaders in promoting Science, Technology, Engineering and Math for young women. And today, these fields -- known by the acronym "STEM" -- are more crucial than ever before.

That's why NCGS has created an entire new website area devoted to STEM learning and achievement, with classroom tools for teachers... fun sites and inspiring stories for students... and even advice and guidance for parents.
