The STEM for Girls Think Tank is an annual gathering of STEM educational leaders from NCGS schools and interested universities from around the world. The purpose is to find ways to better prepare and encourage young women to study the four STEM areas with the long-range goal to have more young women pursue careers in these fields. Teachers and administrators will share best practices, brainstorm ideas, and plan for future STEM-related initiatives and collaborations.

This year we welcome Dr. Catherine Didion, the Senior Program Director at the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) as the keynote speaker. We will also host a panel of young women currently majoring in STEM fields to talk to us about their experiences in high school and so far at the university level. Information on these speakers is available on the STEM for Girls wiki (http://stemforgirls.wikispaces.com)

Additionally, there will be several optional activities on the afternoon of November 12, 2008, including an extended workshop led by Stacy Klein from Vanderbilt University focusing on the "Legacy Cycle" method of teaching which she discussed during her keynote last year. Several hands-on workshops presented by Harpeth Hall teachers will also be available. Please see the STEM web site for details.
