Almost two-thirds of the college Class of 2007 has substantial loan debt, owing over $20,000 on average. And it's expected that with tuition costs rising faster than inflation - and with so many students having ready access to credit cards - the debt load will become so heavy that it will have a significant impact on the careers that students can consider. Critical, but lower paying professions - including teaching - will become unattractive to young adults who are facing high debts.
Skills-based training can help young adults understand how to access and use money effectively. Griffin Enterprises has developed MoneyU, a financial literacy course for young adults. MoneyU uses a game format to deliver key financial concepts while providing users with opportunities to examine and practice effective money management and decision-making skills.
MoneyU has been tested in high schools and colleges and has received excellent reviews. The content has been developed to meet the most stringent personal finance teaching standards. Teachers who would like to take the course may register for FREE at http://www.moneyu.com/
