The Harpeth Hall School (www.harpethhall.org) is a leading independent girls' day school (grades 5-12) with 625 students. The School seeks an inspiring, articulate educator to lead its Middle School of 264 students (grades 5-8), to work collaboratively with a dedicated faculty and staff, and to assume a leadership role in the School's administrative team, beginning July 1, 2008.  Harpeth Hall is a vibrant, forward-looking school with a rigorous, innovative curriculum and exceptional teaching.  Teachers employ proven instructional techniques that are most meaningful for girls. In addition, our outstanding and extensive arts, athletics, service learning, and co-curricular activities provide students with a rich educational experience.

The School is situated on a beautiful, college-like suburban campus of 37 acres in the Green Hills area of Nashville. Harpeth Hall is a national leader in the use of technology to improve teaching and learning. In our new Middle School building, technology use is seamlessly interwoven into the everyday activities in the classroom. Starting in the 7th grade, students receive laptops as part of their educational tools.

The Director of the Middle School oversees the day-to-day operation of the Middle School and reports directly to the Head of School.  The successful candidate will have strong leadership, communication, and curricular skills.  It is particularly important that the candidate understand and enjoy middle school age girls and has the interpersonal skills and knowledge to inspire and support a skilled and dedicated faculty.  Applicants should have an advanced degree with classroom and administrative experience.
