Institutionally owned academic summer programs are a growing trend among schools across the country. Admissions offices are realizing the value of these programs as a tool to attract the best students at a younger age and to create positive and important relationships with them.

This summer, 122 students attended GirlsFirst - Madeira's residential, academic summer program for rising 7th-11th grade girls. Each of these girls had a fun and enriching experience; 26% of them were 'Very Likely' to apply to Madeira. One GirlsFirst student offered the following testimonial, in response to a survey question:

Would you consider applying to Madeira after attending GirlsFirst? Why / why not?

"Yes! Because I love the feel at Madeira. It's friendly, enlightening, and someone always wants to hear about what you learned that day or about your opinion. I also like the academics. They are strong, yet I can ask a teacher for clarification when I need it.  Also, everyone is so close-knit, kind and willing to help. The athletics stood out to me, because Madeira has lots of sports, including squash - I love squash. I like how Madeira encourages girls to experiment."
