WHAT IS NCGSAN
The NCGS Alumnae Network (NCGSAN) is a new initiative of NCGS that connects alumnae from NCGS member schools together for the purpose of personal and professional networking. As part of its Annual Conference, NCGS will host a special opportunity for conference attendees to connect with their Boston area alumnae and/or trustees by inviting them to a partial viewing of MAKERS: Women Who Make America and a cocktail reception on June 25 at 5:30 PM at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel.

Select clips from the empowering documentary series, MAKERS are being compiled by PBS specifically for the NCGSAN event and will be presented by one of the filmmakers. This exclusive presentation will kick off the event and will be the perfect conversation starter throughout the rest of the evening!

The NCGSAN reception is a ready-made, cost-effective regional alumnae event. Invite your area alumnae to make three powerful connections in one evening: unite with their Boston area classmates, engage with their alma mater, and network with local all-girls school alumnae—a worldwide resource of 750,000 graduates of NCGS schools.

This evening event will be conveniently held in the stately Arlington, Berkeley, and Clarendon combined meeting rooms at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel, the recommended accommodations for 2013 Annual Conference attendees. We encourage you to plan a dinner with your alumnae following the reception at one of the several restaurants located either in or around the hotel, which is located only 200 yards from Boston Common and the Public Garden. For suggested nearby restaurants, please click here.

NCGS is subsidizing a substantial portion of the event expense, allowing us to keep each school’s costs down. Fees are based on how many guests will attend from your school:

  • $250 for up to 5 alumnae/trustee guests
  • $500 for 6 to 10 alumnae/trustee guests
  • $1,000 for 11 or more alumnae/trustee guests

The reception is complimentary for all 2013 Annual Conference registrants and NCGS member school staff wanting to attend.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE
If you are interested in inviting your alumnae and/or trustees to join you at the NCGSAN reception, please contact us at ncgs@ncgs.org with “NCGSAN 2013” as the subject. If requested, we will be happy to send you language that you can send to your alumnae and/or trustees for your school’s invitation.

Please note the following deadlines:

  • May 24, 2013: Deadline to inform NCGS if your school will be inviting alumnae to join you at the NCGSAN reception.
  • June 7, 2013: Deadline to inform NCGS about the number of guests you will have attending. NCGS will invoice your school at the corresponding participation level.

ABOUT MAKERS: WOMEN WHO MAKE AMERICA
MAKERS: Women Who Make America tells the remarkable story of the most sweeping social revolution in American history, as women have asserted their rights to a full and fair share of political power, economic opportunity, and personal autonomy. It’s a revolution that has unfolded in public and private, in courts and Congress, in the boardroom and the bedroom, changing not only what the world expects from women, but what women expect from themselves. MAKERS brings this story to life with priceless archival treasures and poignant, often funny interviews with those who led the fight, those who opposed it, and those first generations to benefit from its success. Trailblazing women like Hillary Rodham Clinton, Ellen DeGeneres, and Oprah Winfrey share their memories, as do countless women who challenged the status quo in industries from coal-mining to medicine. MAKERS captures with music, humor, and the voices of the women who lived through these turbulent times the dizzying joy, aching frustration, and ultimate triumph of a movement that turned America upside-down.
